Minnesota River Trail
From Mankatopedia
The Minnesota River Trail is a hiking/biking trail that runs alongside the Minnesota River, connecting the Sakata Trail to Sibley Park.
[edit] Trail path
The east end of the trail intersects the Sakata Trail adjacent to the intersection of Riverfront Drive and Highway 14. It follows along the north side of Highway 14 for about one and a half miles, crossing over 3rd Avenue and reaching the Minnesota River, where it declines quickly on a switchback down closer to river level. From here, the trail continues under 14's Minnesota River bridge and follows the river southward for about three miles, terminating in Sibley Park. There is a trail access near Reconciliation Park, at the intersection of Main Street and Riverfront Drive.
Portions of the trail pass through wooded areas near standing water, so bug repellent is essential for walkers from mid-June through October.A portion of the Minnesota River Trail, seen here from the opposite bank, follows the flood control wall near the Holiday Inn and Civic Center
